In 2009 the first 16 years and under Girls Invitational competition was played between Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia in Maroochydore Queensland. Won by Western Australia.
2011 saw the Inaugural School Sport Australia Girls 16 years and under Championship held in Canberra, ACT with five member bodies represented and an invitational team from AFL NSW/ACT. The Girls Championship was won by Victoria.

Trial Cost
$20.00
Please be advised that if selected:
The cost of a HOME CHAMPIONSHIP will be approximately $800 – $1500 depending on the accommodation option.
The cost of an AWAY CHAMPIONSHIP will be between $2000 – $2700 dependent on venue and time on tour.
Travel Model
The School Sport WA preferred travel model is for students to travel as a team and accommodate with their parent/guardian. Flights have been pre booked and deposits paid for all athletes and officials.  If individuals opt off the group flight booking, a $50 cancellation fee will be charged upon final invoice.
Any variation to this model will be communicated at the parent information meeting.
TRIAL DAYS
Selection Trials will commence on Wed 3 April 2024.
Need boots, joggers and mouthguard.

Players will be emailed with trial allocation one week prior to trials. Please notify the Team Manager if you need a specific trial date, otherwise we will allocate.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the large number of students trialling, individualized feedback will not be provided to students for the first round of trials.

Phase 3 – Monday 15 April 2024
Training will commence Monday 15th and be held every Monday night throughout Term 2, 2024. Players selected from the second round of trials will be announced on the School Sport WA website on Friday 12 April 2024.

FINAL TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
TBC – Selected players and their parents will be required to attend a Parent Information Session and Uniform Fitting on Wed 22nd May.

Training will commence Monday 15th and be held every Monday night throughout Term 2, 2024.

Time: 4.30pm – 6.00pm
Championships are open to all West Australian students, whether or not they are members of an affiliated club.
Students must meet the following criteria:
Be a full time student at a secondary school
Be 15 years or under as of the 31 December
Advise your school that you will be attending the trials
Complete the online nomination form.
SSWA is seeking nominations from students who would like to umpire (Field, Boundary or Goal) at the National Championship.
