Background
In 2026, School Sport WA will host three key competitions:
- David Bell Cup (Years 7-12): A single-gender, boys-only competition.
- Buchanan Cup (Years 7-12): A single-gender, girls-only competition.
- Ross Meadows Shield (Years 7-9): A mixed-gender competition.
All events are open to Government and Non-Government schools.
The David Bell Cup and Buchanan Cup each consist of a one-day Round-Robin format, followed by a Semi-Finals Day and a Finals Day.
The Ross Meadows Shield follows a Round-Robin format, with a Finals Day only.
Cost
- $325 per team (subject to team numbers).
- Payment can be made at the time of nomination or invoiced by SSWA.
- A late withdrawal fee (up to 100%) may apply if cancellation occurs within two weeks of the event.

Umpires
- Schools must bring a competent umpire for the round-robin day.
- Umpires will be provided for the semi-finals and finals days.
DAVID BELL CUP
Format
The David Bell Cup is a one-day Round-Robin event in June, followed by a Semi Final Day in August and then the Grand Final Day in August.
Dependent on nominating numbers there may be a separate day for NoR schools and another for SoR schools.
The winning teams from the one-day competition, SHS Country Week Carnival, the ACC and the PSA competition will be invited to participate in the Semi-Final Day.
The top two teams from the Semi-Final Day will compete for the David Bell Cup Final.
The DIBS Medal will be presented to the player deemed best on ground in the David Bell Cup Final.

*$325 per team. Subject to change dependent on nomination numbers.
Schools are requested to arrange their own umpire for the Round-Robin Day and Semi Finals Day.

Format
The Buchanan Cup is a one-day Round-Robin event in June, followed by a Semi Final Day in August and then the Grand Final Day in August.

ROSS MEADOWS SHIELD
Format
The Ross Meadows Shield is a one-day round robin competition, open to all Government and Non-Government schools.
The top teams from the North of the River and South of the River one-day Round Robin’s will compete in the Finals Day.
Teams are restricted to students in years 7-9.
Teams can be of single (male or female) or mixed gender to encourage independent schools to participate.
The Trent Mitton Medal will be awarded to the Player of the Day in each of the two one-day Round Robin Competitions.

Schools are requested to bring / arrange their own umpire, preferably a senior student.
