INTERSTATE CROSS COUNTRY

The 2025 School Sport Australia Cross Country Championship venue will be on the Gold Coast from September 7 – September 10.

Please be aware, the School Sport Australia event will again be held separate to the Athletics Australia event.

WA TEAM SELECTION
In 2025, students will have ONE trial opportunity only.
Entry into the SSWA State Cross Country team is via the age specific trial event.

Please refer to the Selection Policy (tab at bottom of page) for selection details.

TRIAL 13-18s – Selection Race Thursday 29 May 2025
$12.00 per person

TRIAL 10-12s – Selection Race Saturday 7 June 2025
$10.00 per person

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Please be advised that if selected:

The total cost of the Championship is estimated at $800 (this does not include any flights or accommodation), less fund raising.

[Note: Home Education students will be required to pay a $120 fee in addition to all other costs]

TRAVEL MODEL
The School Sport WA preferred travel model is for students to travel and accommodate with their parent/guardian. 

Flights have been booked for team officials and their flight information will be provided at the parent information meeting.

Any variation to this model will be communicated to parents.

• SSWA State Team Specific Trial 10s-12s
• Trial Event – Saturday 7 June 2025
• Venue: Mawson Park – 22 Mawson Cres, Hillarys WA 6025
• Time: 10am – 11am
• Race Time Specifics:
  10 year olds (born 2015) arrival 9.40am – race start 10am
  11 year olds (born 2014) arrival 10am – race start 10.20am
  12 year olds (born 2013) arrival 10.20am – race start 10.40am
• Distances:
  10 year olds (born 2015) – 2km
  11 year olds (born 2014) – 3km
  12 year olds (born 2013) – 3km

STUDENTS AGED 13 – 18 YEARS (BORN 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007)

The SECONDARY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP will double as the SSWA State Team trial for 13-19 years age divisions.

Parent Information and Uniform Fitting 
Parent Information and Uniform fitting will be held at Tuart College Cafeteria 105 Banksia Ave, Tuart Hill (Park in the Grenville St carpark)

Wednesday 18 June 2025 (Evening – Times to be confirmed)

Regional families are encouraged to attend. Alternatively, regional families should make contact with SSWA Tour Leader to assist with remote order of uniform and paperwork. 

Trial: 10-12s
Saturday 7 June 2025
Venue: Mawson Park

Trial: 13 – 19s – Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship
Thursday 29 May 2025
Venue: Yokine Reserve

WA Team Training: 
Venue 1 – Perry Lakes or Alderbury Reserve, Floreat
Venue 2 – Kings Park, Zamia Cafe

Once the final team has been selected (including reserves) a training schedule will be released.

Training sessions will be held weekly on Sunday mornings at 8am
Training will usually conclude approx 9.15am

Training will vary between the two venues (Alderbury Reserve and Kings Park)

Students will be selected according to their age as of December 31. School Sport Australia guidelines states that students compete in age divisions according to their YEAR OF BIRTH.

Age divisions are offered from 10 – 18+
