This 2026 Cross Country Championship is open to all Yr 3-6 Western Australian school students.
This event is NOT a trial event for the 2026 WA State Team
The event will be nomination by year group and gender for Yr 3, Yr 4, Yr 5 and Yr 6 students.
All events (Year 3 – Year 6) will be awarded championship team points.
Multi Class Athletes – may compete over the distances provided. To enter as a multi class athlete, complete the Individual Nomination form ensuring your classification and required distances are listed.

Your nomination is a confirmation that you will comply with the protocols put in place to keep both school students and adults as safe as possible at this event.
NOMINATION PROCESS
School Team Nomination
- Nominate your students via the NOMINATE button above by Monday, May 18.
- To add multiple athletes, you have the option to “add another”. Once all are entered, go to the checkout.
- If you wish to enter students and pay later (SSWA will invoice), please contact the SSWA office ON EMAIL at [email protected]
- If you have changes or additions these can be made using your system generated log in through Blue Chip Timing.
- If any changes need to be made on the day, please see the registration desk. Schools will be invoiced for the total number of timing bibs allocated or can pay at the time of nominations.
- Cost is $12 per student, late nominations (from 19 May inclusive) is $15.
Individual Nomination
This nomination is for those students whose school WILL NOT be entering a team. You are nominating yourself.
Please read the “STATE TEAM INFORMATION” tab for trial and nomination information.
- Step 1. Nominate the student via the NOMINATE button. Please ensure that your school principal is aware of this entry.
- Cost is $12 per student, late nominations (from 19 May inclusive) is $15.
- PLEASE NOTE: Individuals cannot be invoiced by SSWA, this option is only available to school teams.
- If you have changes these can be made using your system generated log in through Blue Chip Timing.
Entry Rules
Schools may enter up to 30 runners in each event.
Each school’s team score is based on the finishing place of its first 4 runners to complete the race.
Teams that do NOT have the required 4 finishers to make up a team score, will be allocated maximum finish points for each runner missing.
Schools are encouraged to enter a team in every gender and year group.
Schools are not permitted to enter students in multiple age events, nor are they permitted to enter a child in an event that is not his/her current year group.
General Information
- Allocated Race timing BIBS will be issued to all competitors on the day.
- Schools must collect these from the registration desk by 9.30am and ensure that they are issued to the correct runners.
- Individuals must collect their BIBS 45 minutes prior to the start of their race.
- Race BIBS must be pinned to the chest area of the runner’s shirt. Please use all 4 safety pins provided with each bib.
- BIBS must be visible on the chest as the runner crosses the finish line.
- Runners must provide their own water bottles.
- Teams can check their competitor numbers on the information posted near the recording area.
- Identify where the marshalling area is, well before the race starts. All runners need to be at the marshalling area as designated in the event booklet.
- Schools are responsible for cleaning up their own area before departure. Additional bins will be provided.
- There is an age group team event, so each gender/age group is eligible to win a shield for their particular year group.
- Schools may enter a maximum of 3 relay teams.

The Primary Schools Cross Country Championship is excited to be located at a new venue in 2025, with a revamped course and a new addition to the event schedule.

State Team Selection
In 2026, the National School Sport Australia Cross Country Championship will be held in September in Sydney.
WA team selection is as follows:
Students 10, 11 & 12 years of age (Born 2016, 2015, 2014)
The Primary Champion Schools Cross Country event is NOT a State Team trial
10, 11 and 12 year old students will need to attend the Secondary Champion Schools Cross Country event for their State Team selection trial on Thurs 21 May and nominate via the “INDIVIDUALS” link on that page.
Students MUST also complete the Interstate Nomination Form if they wish to be considered for the State Team selection.
Sports Centre will again be present at the event to sell a great range of event merchandise.
We will post the link here (once it becomes available) for anyone wishing to pre-order their merch before the event.
The official SSWA photographer will be on site at the event to capture all of the action that our new course has to offer.
