Eagles Primary School Competitions Set For a Big
Year

The always popular “Eagles Cup” and
“Eagles Faction Football” Primary School competitions will be launched on
Wednesday 25 May, when over 150 invited guests will attend an official function
at Ace Cinemas for a special screening of the “Pirates of the Caribbean 4”.
West Coast Eagles Gun midfielder Matt
Priddis will also be on hand to officially the launch both programs for 2011.
The Eagles Cup Primary School Football
competition is a specially designed program for year 6 and 7 primary school
students, maximising participation, enjoyment and skill development within the
great Australian game.
The evening also marks the launch of
the “intra house” Eagles Faction Football competition for 2011. The Eagles
Faction Footy program is separate to the Eagles Cup but is
a feeder to it and to this extent is promoted as a different competition. The
program is open to all year groups from Year 4 to 7 involving both male and
female students.
The WA Football Commission in
conjunction with the Primary Schools Football Advisory Council coordinates both
competitions. The programs run throughout the entire state during term two and
three of the primary school calendar. This is split over the nine WAFL
Districts and eight Country Regions.
The Eagles Cup continues to grow from
strength to strength with the ongoing support of the West Coast Eagles Football
Club, and BHP Billiton. With the introduction of “Eagles Faction Football” the
primary school winter sports program looks set to be an exciting one.
Clayton Anderson from the WA Football
Commission said the increase in playing numbers was a terrific achievement in
such a competitive market.
“This is attributed to a number of
important factors - the dedicated work of the WAFC District Development
Officers, commitment of the Primary Schools Football Advisory Council and the
AFL Football Ambassador Program introduced in 2005,” he said.
