2010 SUNSMART WA SCHOOLS SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nomination Date:

Monday 21st June 2010

Cost:

$30 per boat, late entry fee $20 if applicable.

Date & Time:

Monday 5th of July through to Tuesday 6th July, 2010.

Entry:

Schools may enter teams of 3 boats, for the WA School Teams Award, on the attached Entry Form which must be sent in to the Yachting WA accompanied by the required fees by TBCIndividual entries will be accepted.

Eligibility:

Entries will only be accepted from students currently attending a WA School. Skipper and crew shall attend the same School. The regatta is open to all dinghies including the following classes:

Javelin 420 29er

470 Laser Jay Dee

Skate Flying Eleven Laser Radial

Flying Ant Tasar Laser 4.7

125 Signet Mirror

Pelican Minnow Heron

Optimist Mudlark Manly Junior

Moth Corsair Cherub

There will be 2 Divisions (subject to numbers):

Division 1 Monohulls with a Yardstick 93 - 144

Division 2 Monohulls with a Yardstick 145 - 185

Awards:

Prizes will be awarded to Champion School, Individual Division Champion, Class Champion (classes with 5 or more entries). A presentation function will be conducted at TBA following racing at about 1600 on Tuesday 6th July, 2010.

A minimum of 5 races over 2 days

Registration:

All competitors shall complete registration on Monday 5th July 2010 from 0800 to 0900. Registration will take place at TBA.

WELCOME & INFORMATION SESSION:

There will be a Welcome and Information Session at 0900 on Monday 5th July

Sun protection:

Yachting WA promotes a “No Hat No Sail” Policy, we encourage the use of broad brimmed hats, long sleeved sailing clothing and proper application of sunscreen.

2009 SUNSMART WA SECONDARY SCHOOLS TEAM RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Monday 29 March 2010

Cost:

$242 per team, a damage deposit of $250 shall be paid with the regatta entry fee.

Date & Time:

Monday 12th through to Thursday 15th April 2010

Entry:

The regatta is open to WA Secondary Schools to enter one or two teams, each of 6 or 7 students, all of who are attending the school full time. Eligible teams may enter on the attached Entry Form which shall be lodged with Yachting WA by Monday 29 March 2010 accompanied by the required fees. Late entries will not be accepted. Students must be in Yrs8 to 12.  Yr 7s are not permitted in this event.

Eligibility:

Any combination of six team members may compete in any race, with crews consisting of two people per boat. The minimum crew weight for each boat will be 100kg weighed in a dry t-shirt and shorts. The event will be run in Pacers supplied by Yachting WA.

Awards:

Prizes will be awarded to Champion School.  The top two schools will qualify to enter the 2010 Australian Schools Team Racing Championship. Any additional places will be offered to the schools in the order of their finish in the 2010 SunSmart WA Secondary Schools Team Racing Championship. A school may only send one team to the Australian Schools Team Racing Championship.

Format:

This Championship will consist of two series. At the conclusion of the Qualifying Series there will a Final Series. The top eight teams from the Qualifying Series will progress to the Final Series which shall be two round robins.
