2008 Pacific School Games Information

Track and Field Team Nomination

 The 2008 Pacific School Games (PSG) will be held in Canberra from 29 November to 7 December. The Games will be held in conjunction with the Australian National All Schools & Youth Athletics Championships. School Sport WA, in partnership with Athletics WA, will be sending one team of Track and Field athletes (12 to 19 years) to compete in this combined event.

 

To register your interest in representing Western Australia at this prestigious international sporting event, held every four years, you will need to complete an online PSG 2008 Track and Field Nomination form. Applicants  need to be aware that the cost of attending the PSG may range from $1700 - $2200.

 

There are no qualifying  standards for 12 year olds. Applicants will be selected based on best qualifying performance.

 

To guarantee selection, applicants must meet the Athletics Australia qualifying standard for their selected event. If no athletes have met the AA qualifying standards the top ranked athletes may be selected. The qualification period extends from 1 October 2007 – 24 May 2008.

 

There are no qualifying standards for 12 year olds. Applicants will be selected based on best qualifying performance.

 

IMPORTANT: You can qualify for PSG by attending any of Athletics WA’s weekend competition days.  Contact Athletics WA on 9287 1200 for details of competitions to check when your event is scheduled. Please note the State Championships are  7 – 9 March. Additional meets specific to PSG qualification will be held at Perry Lakes on Sat 29 March, Sun 13 April, Sat 24 May. Athletes must nominate online on the School Sport WA website by Monday 26 May.

 

Upon submitting your nomination form your details will be automatically forwarded to the PSG Team Selection Panel. The final team will be published on the SSWA Website mid June 2008.
