Champion Schools Competition

 The Champion Teams are decided through a series of Zone Qualifying Rounds. In Western Australia, the state is divided into ten zones and each school is allocated to a zone.

Schools may nominate in any of eight divisions.

 

For Surfing (Teams of 2 surfers)   

For Bodyboarding (Teams of 2 bodyboarders)

Open Boys (18 & under)

Open Boys (18 & under)

Open Girls (18 & under)

Open Girls (18 & under)

Junior Boys (15 & under)

Junior Boys (15 & under)

Junior Girls (15 & under)

Schools may enter up to 2 teams per division. However, if numbers permit extra nominations will be considered.  Schools in the Peel Zone can only enter 1 team per division.

 

Winning zone teams (for each division) will progress to the State finals to be held in Perth. No extra entry fee required.

  

The All Stars Competition is an additional State Team selection event that students can represent their school as individuals.  This event is run the day after the State Final. Students still require their Principal's permission to compete.

Competitors MUST supply their own boards (soft boards are acceptable).

 

Competitor Competency

All competitors must be competent swimmers able to swim 50m (in ocean) and tread water for 1 minute. It is the school’s responsibility to ensure all students meet this minimum requirement.

 

Regional Travel Subsidy

A travel subsidy is available for regional schools who make the finals - for more information please contact Justin at Surfing WA.

 

Withdrawals

Schools or individuals withdrawing within 48 hours of the event commencing will forfeit the entry fee.

STATE TEAM SELECTION

The State Champion team in each division will represent WA at the National titles in Margaret River. The first and second place getters in each division (except junior girls) of the All Stars event will also represent WA in the Nationals.

 

Please note: If competitors have already achieved State Team selection through the schools section of the program they will not be eligible to participate in the All Stars event and will have their entry fee refunded.

 

At this stage there is no scheduled National event for bodyboarding. 

 

To be eligible for State Team selection students must::

  1. Be enrolled and attending a recognised DET educational institution

  2. Be under the age of 20 as of 31 December in the year of competition.

  3. Have school Principal permission to nominate for the trials.
