Competitors must compete in the School Championships and 2 other selection races

Applications

All athletes who wish to be considered for a position in the team must notify the Selection Committee of their availability for selection on the appropriate application form.

The online nomination form must be completed by the above due date

Selection Criteria:

Senior Boys must run in their age category or H2 course

Senior Girls must run in their age category or H3 course

Junior Boys must run in their age category or H4 course

Junior Girls must run in their age category or M course

Selection Process

 Trial results will be used as a basis for team selection as well as:

  •  Kilometre rates

  • Training Diary

  • Coaches Report

  • Attendance at formal training sessions

  • Training commitment

Interstate results from the 2009 Australian Easter carnival may be considered if requested by competitors.

Team captain(s) will be selected and announced at the final presentation evening. The captain(s)will be selected by the team managers / coaches, in consultation with the Sports Coordinator, based on  the following criteria :

  • seniority in the team

  • past experience

  • commitment and attitude to training / information sessions

  • suitable behaviour

  • leadership potential (eg. ability to encourage and support  team members, accepting responsibility at team sessions)

  • confidence with  public speaking

  • demonstration of good organisational skills

Selection Committee The selection committee consists of the School Sport WA Coordinator and two delegated State team coaches or managers. If the School Sport WA coordinator is also a State team coach or manager, the selection committee will comprise one state team coach or manager and one delegated member of the School Sport WA Orienteering committee.
