Competition Specifics

Wednesday 9 June 2010  

$80 per team [SSWA will invoice schools]

$8.00 Individual nomination fee

Tuesday 15 June 2010 (10am to 2pm)

If two tournaments are needed to cope with the number of participating schools, a play-off between the two winning teams will determine the Champion School.

Perth Hockey Stadium, Curtin University, Bentley

The event will be conducted as a pool round robin

Crossover games will determine the final carnival finishing order. i.e.  4 in pool A plays 4 in pool B etc.

Points - win = 3 points    draw = 1 point

Teams on equal points will be separated by:

1. goal difference

2. highest tally of goals

3. the result of the game when they played each other

4. tally of penalty corners during round robin games.

Week prior to carnival

Teams may comprise students in years 5, 6 or 7 and be single or mixed gender.

Team squads may have a maximum of 15 players

SSWA will coordinate pooled regional teams in 2010.  Individuals will be able to nominate through their schools. Individuals who nominate will be allocated into regional teams. Dependent on numbers it is possible that teams may be mixed.

Regional Teams will be ineligible for the Schools Tournament Trophy. A separate trophy, medallion or certificate will be considered for the best regional team. Regional teams will be coached at the tournament by senior Como SHS Hockey Academy students.

Umpires: provided by the Hockey Academy at Como Secondary College.

First Aid:  Provided at venue [ground controllers]

Schools to provide a contact: teacher to whom information can be forwarded prior to, during and after the tournament.

Note: No penalty strokes, Goalkeepers MUST have a full protective kit, No mouthguard - no play!
