District High Schools Country Week is available to all Country District High Schools in Western Australia. Participation is open to students who are under 16 years of age and in year 10 in the year of competition. The inaugural carnival was held in 1999 with 16 schools participating. This number has increased to 37 schools in 2007. District High School Country Week will celebrate the tenth year of competition this year.

With the success of the previous carnival it is hoped that more schools will make the decision to participate in 2008. Schools compete in Mixed Hockey, Basketball, Mixed Soccer, Football, Mixed Volleyball and Netball. Also included are clinics and exhibition matches in each of the sports.

Cost

Schools will be invoiced for a $110 nomination fee following their initial nomination and to be forwarded prior to the event. The nomination fee is non refundable. A levy per sport will be applied and this will be advised at the event and invoiced post event. It is recommended that a figure of $10 per student is budgeted for to cover the sport levy.

How do I get involved?

Initial nominations are requested no later than Friday 23 May.  All schools can access the Sport Nomination Form on the SSWA website. A link is located at the top of this page.

Where can I get more information?

On receipt of all nominations, bulletins and fixtures will be posted on the SSWA website. Please keep a regular check as frequent amendments may be made. We understand that sometimes there may be team changes which are impossible to avoid, however, we do urge you to keep changes to the minimum so fixturing and planning can be accurate.

The Country DHS Delegates are nominated yearly to represent the needs of their district. The annual country delegate meeting is held in February wherein all issues are discussed pertinent to the smooth and efficient running of the carnival.
