Peter started his football and cricket
career playing for suburban clubs at junior and senior levels. Peter
continues his passion today and is currently the President of the
Armadale Cricket Club achieving close to 500 games and is also a member of
the Armadale Aces Softball Team achieving over 350 games. Peter has managed the SSWA
State School
boys Football team since 1994 seeing them win 5 National Titles. Peter joined the SSWA Management
Committee as Treasurer in 1995 taking on the role of Football Sport
Coordinator in 1998. He has been the SSWA Director of Sport since
2006. |

Murray Farr

Murray has been heavily involved in a range of sports
since his early school years competing in and coaching various teams
for Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, 8 Ball Pool,
Volleyball, Rugby, Hockey, and Cricket.
Murray's main passion continued with Football and
Basketball and he went on to play Football for Claremont Teachers
College, Merredin Towns( Capt./Coach Premiers in 1971), Merredin F.C.,
East Perth, Eastern District combined team, Osborne Park, and
Williams. His Basketball career continued with the Perth Basketball
Club, and Merredin District team.
Murray began his involvement with
SSWA taking on the role as Country Delegate for the SHS Country Week
Carnival in 1971. As he moved jobs closer to Perth, Murray became NE
regional delegate in 1977 moving to the NW region in 1980 until 1987
where he became Treasurer of SSWA. Murray held that role until being
elected as President of SSWA in 1999.
During this time Murray also become
involved in coaching and managing various interstate teams for Cross
Country, Athletics and the Pacific School Games. Murray was
also involved with the Pacific School Games held in Perth as the
Billeting and Transport Officer.
Objective: "Like all of our
volunteers I am involved with School Sport WA because I believe in
the pursuit of a healthy active lifestyle. I believe SSWA provides
the vehicle to promote this outcome in the school environment." |

Convenor & Coordinator: Boys and
Girls Hockey
Peter has played and coached at all
levels of hockey. He confesses that he is also a keen but average
cricketer and basketball player.
Peter has coached the state school boys
hockey team from 1983 to 1985 and then again from 2000 to 2005. In
1999 and 2003 Peter also took on the role as Manager of the state
school boys Water Polo team.
Peter started his involvement with the
SSWA management group in 1998 as a Regional Representative, until
progressing to his current role as Vice-President in 2000.
Objective:
"I hope to contribute to a growth in the
number of students representing their schools in sport. My
experience with School Sport WA has been one of personal growth as I
have contributed to a professional sporting association." |

Alby is currently deputy
principal at John Forrest Secondary College. He has been
a member of the School Sport WA Management Committee
since 1995. Alby’s passion is AFL Football having played
football at Subiaco and Wembley amateur football clubs.
At School Sport WA, Alby is the AFL Football convenor,
has been selector for the state schoolboys football team
and chosen the boys and girls secondary football
advisory groups. He also represents School Sport WA on
the football education advisory group. Alby is also the
convenor for Cricket and Yachting. |

Peter
has been involved with School Sport as an association
since 1983 when he first had the opportunity to coach
the State schoolboys soccer team. He has since coached
the team in 1984,90,91,93,94,95.
Currently he is the co-ordinator of the soccer
excellence program at John Curtin College and has held
that position for 20 years. Peter has conducted tours on
behalf of School Sport WA to the Stellenberg Sports
Festival in South Africa in both 2004 2005 & 2006.
Peter, not surprisingly
comes from a soccer and swimming background where he
played in the West Australian State Soccer League in his
playing days. He currently holds a Football Federation
of Australia Instructors Licence and Asian Football
Confederation “”B” licence accreditation. In 2011 Peter
was appointed as Assistant Coach of the Australian Under
19’s Boys Football Team on their tour to China and
Japan. |

Kelvin Browner

Basketball
Kelvin has been a state
basketball player and coach for 24 years and has a level
2 Coaching Certificate. He is presently the Basketball
Program Coordinator at Woodvale SHS and is also the Team
Manager for the Australian Paralympics Wheelchair
Basketball Team (Rollers) that achieved a silver medal
at the Paralympics in Athens in 2004, a bronze medal at
the world cup in Amsterdam in 2006 and a gold medal at
the Paralympics in Beijing 2008. He is currently the
assistant coach of the WA wheelchair basketball team (Wheelcats)
who are the current national wheelchair basketball
league champions.
Kelvin
has been the Basketball Sport Coordinator with SSWA for
15 years, the Management Committee Secretary for 3 years
and has previously coached and managed the state school
boys basketball team.
Objective: "My aim is to ensure that WA school students
have access to quality sporting events through their
schools, organised and conducted by enthusiastic
teachers and administrators." |

Wayne Baseden

Wayne has played and
coached at all levels of Football [Soccer]. With an
interest in most sports this has led him to be involved
with PSG, South African tours, Country Week events,
Champion school events and hosting Football, Softball,
Netball, and Triathlon National championships.
Coach
of the State School girls Football team from 1993 – 2001
and again in 2003-4, he was appointed Australian
National Schools coach in 2002. Currently in 2011 he is
appointed as Manager/Assistant coach of this team.
Wayne
has been an active member of the School Sport WA since
1992. In that time has contributed to various
organisational roles within School Sport WA, as Sports
Secretary, Sport committee member and Executive team
member.
As a
current Health and Physical Education Head of Department
at Willetton SHS Wayne has also been involved in roles
as the Physical Activities project manager and Executive
Officer of School Sport WA within the Department of
Education and is looking forward to a contributing his
knowledge and experiences for the benefit of school
sport. |

John began his
cricket career at 17 and went on to play as captain for the first
grade Suburban Turf Club. He continues to play for fun in veterans
competitions. Johns passion for Aussie Rules football prompted him
to become an umpire for the sport seeing him take on umpiring in
1988 with the Sunday Football League. He went on to umpire over 250
games including 2 League Grand Finals. John presently continues to
coach and observe umpires for Umpiring WA and has umpired over 250
amateurs (WAAFL) games.
John began his
involvement with SSWA as the Primary Swimming Coordinator in 1990.
He continues to hold that role today and has contributed to the
significant growth of the primary swimming carnivals. During that
time John has also taken on the role as Table Tennis coordinator
since 1995 and has travelled with SSWA teams in swimming, AFL
Football, Cross Country and PSG.
Objective: "To
provide a variety of quality events so that teachers and primary
students can participate with confidence." |

Alex is the physical education
specialist at Ocean Reef Primary School and has taught Phys Ed for
15 years. He has been a member of the School Sport WA Primary
Management Group for 2 years. Alex is the current Sport Coordinator
for Primary Basketball and the Manager of the AFL State Schoolboys
12’s Team. Alex is heavily involved in coach education with Aussie
Rules Football and coaches teams in AFL Football and Basketball. He
believes that primary sport is all about participation, enjoyment
